Rhythm & Hues coming to Cyberjaya

"Quality animation, visual effects, live action and design for entertainment and advertising"

Yes they will be coming to Cyberjaya, Malaysia and not just for a visit. But for real. Seriously this is smtg really big. Rhythm & Hues setting up a studio in Malaysia?!? (and they are eyeing on Cyberjaya to setup their studio)

Their plans are to be fully operational by end of 2009 with estimated 40 recruits to start with. Definitely something to look forward to.

Cheers!

In praising Hollywood studios for staying afloat, do recall there are many sides to that coin. It’s great that Rhythm and Hues Studios still operates, no question.

However, on the flip side, over the last five years, a very large portion of Los Angeles artists have been fired from R&H and replaced by Indian artists, entire departments now operating overseas with no benefit to the states but yet tax breaks to the company for exporting the jobs. US R&H artists were sent to India to train new artists, then fired upon their return to the states.
They are opening a third studio overseas and will no doubt be rewarded for every American artist they lay off.

R&H used to be a very family oriented company but in the last five years, their priorities have changes.
After working at R&H four years, I was physically assaulted in 2008 by a novice supervisor from Argentinia. I was informed by the studio 2d supervisor that he was from a different culture and it was his prerogative to treat artists as he saw fit. I was told I would be let go because of it, because he was a supervisor. I was informed by the 2d department supervisor that his country has different beliefs about women and I should understand that…

We should all understand that right? As long as a compnay is “American” in name, it doesn’t matter how they treat People anymore really.

God bless the mighty dollar.
