Next Week's CNY issues
Next week a lot of people are going back for the CNY celebrations. Unfortunately, we can't push back/reschedule what's happening on that day because it would cause a ripple effect to everything else. So... those of you who can't present on that day, please e-mail (or those of you who have huge video files to show, give a CD) whatever should have been presented before you go back. Those of you who are still here on Wednesday, present in class; if presentations end early, we'll start the storyboarding lecture right after it.
Welcome back people - CHAAAARRRGGEEE!!
*p.s. Congrats to the CA bunch for having a great first session full of good ideas - try to keep this up throughout the whole semester. Let's at least TRY to have fun doing our work :p

A trip to Assumption University
The hostel rooms they allocated for us to stay. YES, it is their HOSTEL, complete with a balcony and individual bathrooms.... O_O
The exterior of the King David hostel (others being Queen of Sheba and King Solomon. Well, since it's a Catholic University, most of the buildings are named after biblical characters).
The clock tower that chimes almost every hour. (serves as a pretty good wake up call) There's also a museum beneath the tower that features artworks, chandeliers and a grand piano.
The AU Mall (yea, this university is freakin' big enough for a little mall to fit in) where we had our breakfast.
The courtyard of the AU Mall.
The old-school tram: Something to go around the campus with.
The CathedralCheck out the horse statues on the lake...
Swans! in their lake garden...
One of the many fountains in campus.
So, What do you think?

Make 3D models from video clips
Would not it be really cool if we cool make 3d models from video on the fly? Some folks at The University of Adelaide's Australian Centre for Visual Technologies is developing VideTrace which will allow us to create ("trace") 3d models off the video.
Check out their great video here - It is totally awesome. And if it can really do what it is showing, it would be a total revolution. So, head now and check out the yet-to-come video trace.

SACRED LEGACY
Edward S. Curtis and Native Americans
Sacred Legacy is an exhibition of fine-art photographs capturing the extraordinary diversity among North American Native Americans. A century ago, photographer-ethnographer Edward S. Curtis set out to document the lives and traditions of Native American tribes all over America. At the end of this 30-year expedition, he had documented 80 Native American tribes and culture areas from the American Great Plains, to the Southwest, to the Pacific Northwest. Sacred Legacy highlights the rich culture of Native Americans and demonstrates Curtis' deeply felt sympathy for the people he photographed.

Time: 11am - 7pm daily (closed on Mondays)

It hosts all manner of art form and expression and has attracted projects that are experimental, multidisciplinary and socially conscious.
